was a possible coin, whether we go up or we did go up and put a note in his windscreen.

He called us the same afternoon and said he was building a hotel in Derby, South Derbyshire, run out of money, fell out with the landlord and changed it to a care home and now run out of money and asked us to invest.
Sukhi GidharGUEST

And that's how we got involved in care homes.

And then I registered in 2008 and I finished the update and was fortunate to land on my feet in a practice which had a very open-minded lead dentist, a practice owner.
James NeilsonGUEST

He was... i've been working as a technician for many many years before that and he helped me with my clinical training and effectively mentored me that's and that's one of the biggest things and we may talk about this in a bit of cdt training particularly is there's no foundation and i know there's been a lot of discussions about that recently but you finish the course and unless you're working within another CDT or in a practice that supports you how do you get mental through those early years where you're developing those early clinical skills so yeah I was fortunate to have a very good mentor in Murray and I was at that practice 10 years before picked up what I did and moved to Derbyshire and started a profession in South Derbyshire and it was there I got into teaching

Really interesting, isn't it there? Because you said that you had a really open-minded dentist that worked in a practice.

And just from what I've heard throughout my 10 years, 11 years being in dental technology is that way back then as well, that it was very closed off between dentists and CDTs and even with dental technicians.

And that was all great until I was, unfortunately, one of the businesses in that combined building had an arson attack and um I got caught up in the middle of that that was a not fun conversation to have from the landlord on a Saturday morning at 7am that somebody put three petrol bombs through the building and yeah it was it was a mess um absolute mess and it was targeted the companies in the front of the building it was you've never known the other units were behind if you've never been around because from the front it looked like it was one company you owned the whole building but actually behind that was small units and yeah that was a that was a particularly challenging time um i got moved around two different locations anything the landlord had free that fitted the business use needed for dental average you know it isn't can't just go into any any property you've got to have the light commercial side of it and If I'm honest, at that point, that happened the year we got married.

And it was one of those things which was, I don't think emotionally I've recovered fully from that in a sense I found it very hard to get back on my feet I spent six months in a temporary accommodation then another six months elsewhere and at that point when it was I was kind of a bit of felt a bit nomadic the one that the clinic was still going really well but I didn't feel I had a comfortable lab base to work from because it was I was in these temporary units and then an opportunity came to move to the midlands near my wife's family and that was moving into practice they were happy for me to have the lab on site so that seemed like a really good scenario and that's what we did we sold up and moved up fresh start in south derbyshire and moved to near Burton-upon-Trent.

And I was working in a practice there for a number of years as an associate, still with a corporate.

My main focal point for my story is a semi-detached house built around 1880 in South Derbyshire, which had years ago been a mining village and area.

Previous to my story, I have experienced strange things such as my first experience in a different house when I was about six years old.
