South African wine

They're here to, to, to, to, to experience what South Africa's got to offer.

You'll probably find more often that there's a vertical of South African wine available rather than having a foreign wine.

But if you want to buy it at a wine shop, special wine shop, it, it is available.

One, what is it that America...

You both traveled to the States, right? You both, obviously, spent time there.

What is it, what is the thing that Americans get wrong or frustrates you when it comes to their perception of South African wine?

Um, I, I think it's, it's just the, you know, the, the, the possibility.

Very cool.

What do you think Americans get wrong or get confused about mostly when it comes to South African wine?

I don't think they get confused.

I think they're still not, um, as educated as they could be about it.

Yeah.

Okay.

So more education on South African wines.

And to see the quality because I think sometimes a market just gets flocked with bulk wine from a country at a very cheap price bracket on a retail store shelf, where there's way more to it.

We're drinking a wonderful wine, Aslina Chardonnay from South Africa.

What should we know about South African wines today?

Oh gosh, South African wines are delicious, right? So I always say that South African wines are the perfect cross between California wines and French wines, right? So in California, you get these very fruit forward wines.

It just tastes like the sun has kissed the earth in these wines.

And then in France or the old world, you get these like very rustic, earthy wines.

Well, there's a lot of black winemakers in South Africa.

Really? The wine that you're drinking right now is by one of my good friends, Nziki Baila.

And she is a black South African and she has her own wine label that I've been supporting ever since I like kind of discovered South African wines.
