Uncle RussHOST
24:42
That seems really good.
Uncle RussHOST
24:43
I'm going to play a Soulguide Lantern for free.
Jolly St. ClickHOST
24:46
Soulguide Lantern? This is a standard deck.
Jolly St. ClickHOST
24:48
I like this.
Jolly St. ClickHOST
24:49
This is cute.
Jolly St. ClickHOST
24:50
All right, what's it do, though, Russ?
Uncle RussHOST
24:53
Soulguide Lantern is a one-drop that, when it enters the battlefield, exile a target card from a graveyard.
Uncle RussHOST
25:00
I'm going to choose the Lunark Veteran because...
DanHOST
21:18
One thing that I thought of in terms of balancing the artifact deck, James, I don't know if you thought about this, in terms of a lot of the baubles right now are colourless.
DanHOST
21:30
So you have things like Chromatic Star, all these like Soulguide Lantern, all these like little kind of like, trinkety artefacts that are all colourless to cast, how would you feel about potentially making some of them have a coloured pip in them? So things like Experimental Synthesiser, which is a bauble, but it has a red pip in it, or like Blood Fountain, which has a black pip in it.
DanHOST
21:53
Like putting a bit more...
DanHOST
21:56
Because from my end, when I've seen these decks really pop off, it's kind of because they are also kind of...
MarkHOST
10:27
So there's very few decks that are actually, you know, exposed to this card, which is quite good really because you don't really want, um, another board wipe, you know, for your artifacts and your lands.
MarkHOST
10:38
I've been very interested by Soul-Guide Lantern.
MarkHOST
10:41
Now, it's actually appearing in decks that have black mana.
MarkHOST
10:44
Now, we all thought when this card came, was like downshifted, yeah, because of the Secret Lair, um, that Nim-- not Nihil Spellbomb, yeah, would actually still be the de facto card in black because you get rid of the opponent's graveyard and you draw a card.
MarkHOST
10:58
But actually, you know, the use of, um, being a bit of a surgical knife, you know, um, when it enters, you get rid of a card and you then you can either use it to draw a card or exile a graveyard.
MarkHOST
11:09
It feels like it's actually been ve- a very interesting adaptation where it can be used.
MarkHOST
11:14
I've definitely swapped out my Relic of Progenesis in my Boros deck because actually the Soul-Guide Lantern protects my graveyard, um, which is really good when you consider that, yeah, you play a lot of flashback cards.
MarkHOST
11:26
Definitely something to bear in mind.
Sam BlackHOST
28:36
Basalt Monolith should also be here, it just doesn't have the right tags.
Sam BlackHOST
28:39
And a few stacks pieces, uh, Soul-Guide Lantern, Cursed Totem, Dress Down, Torpor Orb and Karn, the Great Creator.
Sam BlackHOST
28:48
Dress Down is again, really nice 'cause you only have to hold up one mana for it.
Sam BlackHOST
28:52
This is definitely added specifically because of Dack, but it's a really good answer to Dack.
Sam BlackHOST
29:08
Most likely, they were not planning to have to deal with a Dress Down when they cast the Silence, so this will functionally counter both the Silence and the Dack.
Sam BlackHOST
29:17
So-- and then obviously, if they don't have the Silence, they'll just cast Dack and then you Dress Down and their Dack enters and doesn't do anything and then they have to figure out-- they have to find a way to flicker it, which they do play some of those but again, that may not be something that they have available and it won't work until the Dress Down leaves.
Sam BlackHOST
29:36
Torpor Orb, same situation here specifically because of Dack and then Cursed Totem and Soul-Guide Lantern are just, uh, generally good stacks pieces.
Sam BlackHOST
29:47
One note on Karn, the Great Creator and Soul-Guide Lantern.
Jacob NagroHOST
22:44
Makes sense.
Jacob NagroHOST
22:44
Yeah, also, I mean, depending on what deck you're against, um, the activated ability of Soul-Guide Lantern only excels in opponent's graveyard.
Jacob NagroHOST
22:52
So if you're playing against creatures, you know, you are a black removal deck, so you could kill one of those things.
Alex MitasHOST
22:56
Hmm.
Cameron SchindlerHOST
28:51
Oh, and one Sew- Surveillance Cam.
James HieronimusHOST
28:52
On this side, it's got Soul-Guide Lantern, Surveillance Cam, Grim Bauble-
Cameron SchindlerHOST
28:57
Grim Bauble's interesting there
James HieronimusHOST
28:58
... uh, the Giant's Boulder, Campfire, and Blood Fountain.
Michael SimonettiHOST
21:07
Really thinking about it.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
21:09
Anyway, the deck list, for those wondering, four Pompous Battlemage, the new One Drop with Prowess, four Hired Claw, four Tarmogoy, four Questing Druid, two Stingcaster Mage, three Emberheart Challenger, four Burst Lightning, two Channel Dragonfire, two Seer, two Meltstriders Resolve, three Blossoming Defense, four Heroes Hangout, one Soulguide Lantern, artifact for the Tarmogoy, 21 land.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
21:30
I'll post this in the Discord, whatever.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
21:33
And then accuse Michael and Jake of leaking it.

11 MINS LATER

Gerry ThompsonHOST
32:33
That card's way bigger than Tarmogoyf.
Michael SimonettiHOST
32:36
That guy's really large, yeah.
Gerry ThompsonHOST
32:38
Until I Soulguide Lantern you.
Michael SimonettiHOST

I really would like to play some of these planeswalker enchantments, but I don't think that's going to be in my range either.

Kevin CronHOST
64:00
So 2020, going back five years, is the last time you can point to where the set was not the best card winner.
Kevin CronHOST
64:07
We picked Theros because it had Underworld Breach and Thassa's Oracle and Soulguide Lantern in it that year.
Kevin CronHOST
64:13
So there you go.
Kevin CronHOST
64:14
There's the
