Pinarello Q36.5. We've just passed the Ineos Grenadiers bus as well.

People are getting a big crowd for him as always, as you'd imagine.
Daniel FriebeHOST
55:58
surely he's not got too much margin for improvement, because if he does improve further, he'll be winning Grand Tours by minutes and minutes.
Michele PelacciHOST
56:06
Well, I spoke to his general manager, the manager of UAE Team Emirates, Machin Fernandez, who is a renowned talent guy and was associated with the Quickstep team for many years.
Michele PelacciHOST
56:18
In fact, the development team that he ran produced Remy Cavagna, who won yesterday, but he's now in charge at UAE Team Emirates.
Michele PelacciHOST
56:25
and I spoke to him about Pog at the finish.
Dan LloydHOST
6:39
A six-man counter move tried and failed to bridge across and so by the midway point he built up a lead of six minutes.
Dan LloydHOST
6:46
That did come down through work from the likes of Soudal, Lidl Trek and EF but not even their combined strength could really make the significant difference.
Dan LloydHOST
6:55
Of 12 k's to go and one lap to go, van der Poel still had over two minutes and it was game over.
Dan LloydHOST
7:00
He crossed the line arms aloft after four hours on his own in which he averaged over 42 kilometers per hour with almost 3,000 meters of climbing.
Dan LloydHOST
7:32
On stage three, there was a big shakeup in that regard as a strong large group went up the road and carved out a big advantage.
Dan LloydHOST
7:38
Much of Van der Poel wasn't in it that day.
Dan LloydHOST
7:41
The stage was won on that day by Pepin Rinderich of Soudal-Quickster, but it was Wismars Davide Piganzoli who went into the race lead after finishing second.
Dan LloydHOST
7:49
A lead he increased actually the following day by winning the ITT.

... and then was the next year Ayuso, and we had Roglic, so we've been spoilt.

We've def- and, and the merger rumors between, between Quick-Step and Visma at some point.
Patrick BroeHOST
71:23
Quick-Step and Visma merger rumors, then Lotto merger, and then Arkea-
Benji NaesenHOST
71:27
Yeah, but that didn't pan out, did it?
Patrick BroeHOST
71:28
... then the feast, the feasting over Arkea.
Spencer MartinHOST
46:14
Probably some sort of professional, right? At least a half year pro.
Johan BruyneelHOST
46:18
He was on, he was on the, he was actually on the development team of, uh, of Quick Step.
Johan BruyneelHOST
46:25
Um, they had a development team there called Ethics or something, or Young Constantia.
Johan BruyneelHOST
46:30
I, I think it was Young Constantia, which was, uh-
Johan BruyneelHOST
46:47
Was, was teammates with Enric Mas on Young Constantia, I think.
Johan BruyneelHOST
46:53
Uh, if I'm not mistaken, so, uh, they did that.
Spencer MartinHOST
46:55
And then he must have been teammates the next year on Quick Step, right?
Johan BruyneelHOST
46:59
On Quick Step.
Spencer MartinHOST
2:11
There's someone out there who bet on Mikel Landa to win today's stage, and I hope they're buying a yacht in Monaco, because the odds would have been substantial, I have to think.
Spencer MartinHOST
2:21
Soudal Quick-Step's Mikel Landa wins the stage from the breakaway after missing the early move.
Spencer MartinHOST
2:27
Tobias Halland Johannessen second, Rasmus de Bruyne third.
Spencer MartinHOST

He bridges up from the chase group, two-minute bridge.

7 MINS LATER

Johan BruyneelHOST
9:19
He's been dropped.
Johan BruyneelHOST
9:20
He's not been in any, any breaks, and all of a sudden he finds this last piece of energy.
Johan BruyneelHOST
9:26
Uh, obviously is not being renewed by, uh, Soudal Quick-Step.
Johan BruyneelHOST
9:31
Has signed, uh, his last contract of his career, a two-year deal with Euskaltel, of which he is actually, uh, the godfather, and I think also kind of a little bit of the co-owner.
Patrick BlakeHOST
4:17
You know, we were back on the drops.
Patrick BlakeHOST
4:19
slinging it side to side, it was really good to see, and back in the peloton group, I guess you could call it the favourites group, Gal attacks, takes mass with him, drops Roglic and Carapaz, so all of a sudden that second place of Roglic's was looking a little bit under threat, but up towards the front of the race, what do we see in his final grand tour for Soudal Quickstep on the last mountain stage, but Michel and the who I honestly wasn't expecting much from from this race but you know what if there was going to be somebody who was going to win this day who I would have been really happy of him winning it it would have been Landa and that is exactly what happened and Mikhail Landa takes the win ahead of Tobias Haaland, Johansson, Ramzes, De Bruyne, Pomekel, Uke Barade, Jan Hurt then you get Nordhagen and Kuss in 8th gaining a lot of time in GC Walter Calzoni now in 4th and Fortunato in 10th Gal finished 13th and he gained, I don't know, like 17 seconds on Mast, and about a minute on Roglic, but not enough for GC to change.
Patrick BlakeHOST
5:23
So the overall GC, Mast, It's still in the lead with one stage to go.
Patrick BlakeHOST
5:28
Rogic is in second, but his gap is only 29 seconds to Gal.
Daniel FriebeHOST
50:13
Enric Mas that day was ninth, and he was only 58 seconds behind Alaphilippe, so that was an example of a very good one.
Daniel FriebeHOST
50:19
He was still at Quick-Step then, of course.
Daniel FriebeHOST
