Sophie Luff

And it was the PCA Awards this week.

And I really want to talk about PCA Women's Player of the Year, Sophie Luff, because she is the first non-international player to win since Eve Jones in 2021.

And it's an award that's voted for by other players.

And I thought it was really nice that she was recognised in this way because she was against, I think, Maibushi and Maddy Villiers and Sophia Dunkley, I want to say, who also, you know, they've had, rightly all had a very good season.

Kyle Abbott, 64 wickets.

On the, on the women's side, it was interesting that Sophie Luff, also of Somerset, uh, was the PCA Women's Player of the Year.

Do you know what her claim to fame is?

Sophie Luff?

Yeah.

No idea.

There you go, you see?

Yeah.

Um, sadly we obviously couldn't get over the line in that game, but she had a fantastic game there, um, you know, nailing those yorkers, and she became a really good option for us with the ball in T20 this year.

Um, L- Sophie Luff got 58 off 33 at Edgbaston, which was the beginning of her revolution as a T20 batter this year.

Um, and then the, my, th- I had two options for the, for the performance of the year.

Um, one of them was Luff's 82 not out off 53 at The Oval when the ne- our next highest score was 17, and obviously she led us to a completely unexpected win.

I went slightly left.

I- definitely the Neve Hol- Holland innings was, was remarkable, um, and well, well worth mentioning.

I did go for Sophie Luff's knock against Surrey, um, for a couple of reasons I put it above Neve's.

Um, I, I was there, um, uh-

To come, we'll hear from the Somerset duo who took home the big prizes.

That's Craig Overton and Sophie Luff.

We'll also chat to the Young Player of the Year, Sonny Baker, plus his fellow fast bowlers, Sam Cook and Henry Crocombe, both of those trying to establish themselves in the full England team.

We'll be joined by England spinner Charlie Dean.

And a Somerset double.

You're the Men's Player of the Year.

Sophie Luff, the Women's Player of the Year.

Yeah.
