Sook-Yin Lee

Hmm.

Shortly, you'll hear me speaking to Toronto-based multimedia artist Sook-Yin Lee, who some people will know as the star of 2006 film Short Bus.

Sook-Yin's 2024 film Paying For It is based on Chester Brown's 2011 graphic novel of the same name, with which she has a particularly personal relationship.

And I'll be talking to British graphic novelist Joff Winterhart about his bittersweet gem Days of the Bagnold Summer, the feature film version of which got many of us through the dark days of the COVID lockdown.

That was Joff Winterhart.

You can watch the wonderful Days of the Bagnold Summer on MUBI.

[upbeat music] Up next is Sook-Yin Lee, multimedia artist and director of 2024 film Paying For It.

We've spoken a lot in the past on Screenshot about justification for adaptation, about how whatever the original medium, be it a play or a classic work of literature, a video game, or a graphic novel, you need to have a better reason to turn it into a film than just the greedy desire to squeeze yet more profit from the same old tired IP.
