Son Ye-jin

Their music is known for its acoustic guitar arrangements, warm harmonies, and nostalgic melodies.

The song became especially famous when it was featured in the 2003 Korean romantic comedy The Classic, which stars Son Ye-jin, Cho Sang-woo, and Jo In-sung.

Oh, I want to see that movie.

I know.

I think it is that good.

Fantastic storytelling, great writing, moving and nuanced acting, amazing music, and really good cinematography, I think.

Well, listeners, in Season 16 of K-Drama Chat, you already know that we will recap and analyze The Scandal, the hit K-drama on Netflix starring Son Ye-jin, Ji Chang-wook, and Nana.

Here is how Netflix describes the show.

It was super sexual for a K-drama.

Like, I believed that they wanted to just, like, rail each other, and it was Son Ye-jin and Jung Hae-in.

And, like, I would want to see that too.

I did want to see it.

And I already hated the premise of this drama.

Some people like it.

So again, this is just me, but he is a straight man pretending to be gay so that he can live with Son Ye-jin's character in her house because her father was a famous architect and he wants to learn about the design of this house, um, because he has to make this, like, competitive design or whatever, and he feels like if he learns from this house, then he's gonna have the winning design for this, like, final contest.

Premise, already terrible, okay? And for me, it just kept getting worse.

[laughs] Shout out to all of my favorite Korean stars.

Son Ye-jin, favorite actress ever.

[laughs]

Um, but so we're gonna go after the festival's ended and be close to the beach and see a different part of the country.

Nope, sorry, I have two more to go.

In September, I did watch The Scandal with Ji Chang-wook and Son Ye-jin.

Uh, I may cover this one in a separate episode.

I'm not quite sure.

I thought that was well done.

Um, the production value I thought was the best thing about the drama.

Well, the production value and the acting, because I will say that Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook did a great job.

They did a, a very good job, and there were aspects of the story's setup that I really liked.

...

I started K-dramas with Something in the Rain, with the lovely Son Ye-jin.

I love her.

So I was looking forward to that show.

I love him.

Son Ye-jin can act.

Individually, even So-wook.

The little girl.

Mm.

She's a great actress, Son Ye-jin.

Mm-hmm.

The way she was able to kind of, like, deliver that, I was like, "Oh," you know? Um, and [laughs] then this was funny.

The newcomer even brought her childhood cello to her second audition to show her range, proving just how determined she was to land the part.

On set, veteran actress Son Ye-jin took the rookie under her wing, personally reviewing scripts and sharing tips on delivering period drama dialogue, which Chae Seorin says completely reshaped how she approaches acting.

Looking ahead, the young actress hopes to take on deeper, more complex characters, cites Yoon Yeo-jeong as her ultimate role model, and admits her biggest dream is to someday win a rookie award during her acting career.

LE SSERAFIM is proving just how far their global star power reaches, with Hollywood coming out to show love during their United States tour.

All right, next week we will recap and analyze episode 10 of Hospital Playlist, and we'll also dive into the careers of a couple of the actors playing residents.

And in case you missed last episode, Sunghee and I have decided to recap and analyze Scandal with Son Ye-jin and Ji Chang-wook in season 16 of KDrama Chat.

We are not going to watch the show in advance.

Sunghee has watched episode one, and I've yet to watch it, but I will soon.

And then the next one I watched was The Scandal.

I watched this show because of Ji Chang-wook and Son Ye-jin.

[sighs] I'm such a big fan of those two, and it, it delivered.

I feel like a lot of people are missing, um, [lips smack] the, the point of this series, and it's just one of those series that if you get it, you get it.
