Sompo Japan Building

After businesspeople head home from their offices in the skyscraper district of Nishi Shinjuku in Tokyo, breakdancers begin descending on the area, specifically around one high-rise.

By eight thirty PM, when the lights in the west side lobby of the Sompo Japan Head Office building are turned off, twenty to thirty dancers are practicing their moves, watching their reflections on the glass walls, and listening to music from smartphones through wireless earphones or speakers.

They are mainly students and working adults in their teens and twenties, but there are also grade schoolers and those in their forties.

Some dance alone, while others come in groups.

Uh, and there's a- an amazing building.

My favorite skyscraper in Tokyo is the Sony Sompo Building.

Um, or I think it's just called the Sompo Building.

Mm.

And it's got this sort of like tapered, uh, base to it, where the, the, the base is curved.
