And it is like that is Cameron Crowe being Cameron Crowe.

You got Salisbury Hill playing like.

persistence over brilliance, which is also a gardener replanting an entire country, one tree at a time for a year, because that's the job in front of him and he can see how to do it.

And that brings me to the music for this episode, Peter Gabriel, 1977, Salisbury Hill, a record I've never been able to hear as anything other than a homecoming.

He's just walked away from Genesis, the band he'd helped build, and the point where it was working.

And the song is about that decision.

It was like, I remember when we did the, I don't know how much you want to sidetrack, but when we did, um, Milton Keynes we did a show with Peter came back as vocalist for in order to try and help WOMAD which was having a bit of trouble at the time yeah and we played Salisbury Hill and he said he was very proud so it's in seven you know I said yeah no it's in seven it's great it's very good you know it doesn't sound clever and then he went back and he had to play something we just turned it on again he was playing the drums and I looked up at the back of him when he was playing it and Every moment he threw something, what the hell? What's going on? You haven't realized, you see.

So I said, well, that's it.

You know, I think it's often, you know, as I say, we use seven quite a lot over the years.

I think it's hard to maintain that level of momentum there.

When you don't follow up Salisbury Hill with just another kind of iconic single and just the way he came out of the gate swinging and the singles are what sells the records, right? I mean, just the airplay, the radio time, all of that.

But I will say, in France, this one, his first album made it to number five in France, and this one made it all the way to number two in France.

So he had some French fans.

Right.

So I do kind of wonder there's maybe a little more going on here.

Of course, Peter Gabriel 1 had Modern Love released as, at the very least, a follow-up single to Salisbury Hill.

So, you know, you expect that kind of support, maybe at least more than one.

It was kind of every time he looked, what's going on? Six up in the air.

He was talking to me very proudly about the fact that Salisbury Hill was in stage.

Very clever, very good.

It's very nice.

Is that Peter Gabriel? Now it's great that he plays a part in the show, but then the Peter Gabriel in the show is selling out or at least performing for Stenson and the Silo people, which doesn't seem quite so great.

Did Mr Gabriel enter a Silo or did he leave that new Genesis? Or is he up on the Salisbury Hills, which is how we should now refer to those ridges around the Silo? Now, who knew that the bomb was about to go off? The people who arranged to split Hellenial across silos 18 and 1 do.
