When we talked to Nels, I don't know, two years ago at this point, Lance, he had mentioned Quiet Amplifier is one Wilco song that's impossible to play live.

And then, cut to Solid Sound 2024, you all busted it out for the Deep Cuts set and you had like the whole like Wilco sphere was up there playing the toms and kind of going back to Overtime by Ode to Joy with all these layers it sounds like a lot of those songs were hard to realize in a live environment so I guess starting with Quiet Amplifier what can you tell us about like how you created those sounds in the studio and then how did you bring those into a live setting?

yeah i mean it's that one was a lot of marching machine like on on toms and just this pulse that builds up and another tom pulse on an old antique drum and it you know so it was all constructed in the studio for me at least and that entire record when it came to playing live we had to rethink everything that was um ashwin my longtime tech at that point

That's what I do on Quiet Amplifier Live now because I can't carry the marching machine with me anymore.

It's just for the Yoga Joy tour, basically, to get that which was super cool.

But now when we do those songs live, I just try... and get more of the four mallets on the toms and get that sloppy attack so it sounds like multiple people playing, which is why we brought up a bunch of people at Solid Sound, but that was the only time.

When we do that song, and it's been a few months, but it still pops up sometimes, that's how I approach it.
