Solar power

This is a story about growing pains.

Solar is now the largest source of power in Europe during summer months.

But unlike fossil fuel plants, renewable energy is at the whim of Mother Nature, leaving it in short supply on overcast days.

On peak summer days, however, when the sun hangs high, Europe has more solar power than its system can handle, and too often it goes to waste.

Government assistance and attractive returns for renewable producers have driven a massive solar boom across Europe in the last decade.

From rooftops to solar parks.

Solar has been a huge success, right, in Europe.

Uh, we are now having more than 400 gigawatt of solar capacity being installed over the last years.

Solar power is much more likely to happen in a collaborative and localized way than nuclear power.

Because nuclear power requires us to not blow up the nuclear power plant.

So it requires someone in charge.

And then we must accept that a few people control the data and then also they control the LLM.

So, yeah, I think it's very similar to a nuclear power plant, that it is a technology that leads to a few people having a lot of power.

I wouldn't know what the comparison of Solar would be.

And maybe you could say, well, small, precise models that you run on your own laptop or something like this.

Ion drives are a candidate for the trucking industry of near space.

If we build large space habitats, solar power satellites, asteroid mines, or industrial platforms, we will need a lot of trucking.

This is why ion drives should not be judged only as engines for probes.

They are engines for logistics.

Exploration gets headlines.
