Robert Lawson is an associate professor in sociolinguistics at Birmingham City University, where he researches and teaches across sociolinguistics, language and identity, and applied language studies.

He is the author of Language and Mediated Masculinities, co-editor of Sociolinguistic Research, Application and Impact, and editor of Sociolinguistics in Scotland.

He has also worked with police agencies in England to develop and deliver training on manosphere language and male supremacism, and is a regular expert media commentator on men and masculinities.
