And you know, if you, if you, if you don't mind me jumping your question, cause I think where you're going to kind of leads into mine.

Um, you know, you jokingly sent me a message that said, uh, maybe the title should be how not to write a social novel.

Um, and, uh, we, we have, we have since learned not to put negatives in our titles.

Um, but, uh, I wanted you to expand on that a bit and, you know, especially contrasting it with the, with the social novels, the great social novels, which you have a really solid background in.

And like, what is there that is particularly not here?

That's a great question.

little... relief of the misery and what relief is found is often depicted as sort of sinful or dangerous so like when yurgis's son dies or wife dies he gets drunk for three days um and he experiences no real pleasure from that and he spends the monies the the family's money um there's just no quiet moments of the family being together enjoying each other's company you get a little bit of there's a moment where antonis says god damn for the first time and and uh your guest thinks that antonis is like a five-year-old or four-year-old or something like that and and your guest thinks that's hilarious and it's like that's like the only time your guest smiles between the wedding and the end of the book um besides probably some you know off off page off screen interactions with prostitutes And so I think that's a problem, too.

And I also think that even if you're trying to indict capitalism, which is a perfectly good thing to do in this time of place, the antagonists are all villains.
