Social entrepreneurship

Um, you know, that kind of goes into, to where and how I started this.

I've been, you know, had an entrepreneurial mindset, you know, forever social entrepreneurship about 15 years ago, um, really piqued my interest, uh, Because I love the idea of trying to solve kind of systemic big root problems through business.

Starting a business just to create profit doesn't excite me.

Being able to create a profitable business that drives forward the social and environmental principles that we're trying to instill really does excite me.

I went to the University of Victoria.

I did a double major in environment studies and sociology with a minor in business.

So it was really kind of geared towards sustainable business and social entrepreneurship.

Started looking at food systems and specifically focused my entire academic career on researching the industrial food system in North America post-World War II.

But one of the projects I worked on was in Thailand and Indonesia.

And it was to encourage social entrepreneurs and social entrepreneurialism.

So it consisted of a whole bunch of things.

So meeting with business schools to try and get them aware and working with business groups, et cetera, and government.
