And the emergence of a, of a major climate movement that had a demand that was quite unusual and I guess somewhat, uh, dry, namely, uh, very legislative demand, namely for a new climate law, so a new climate act, essentially, that wa-was to set more ambitious, uh, emissions reductions targets.

This became one of the largest social movements in Danish history and successfully then managed to influence the twenty nineteen general election, which the prime minister of the-- or, or the leader of Social Democrats who became the prime minister, she hailed as the Denmark's first-ever climate election.

And she said that this was in large part driven by, you know, young people who were demanding more ambitious action on, on climate change and, and that's what then pushed parties, even sort of historic laggards, you might say, or parties that definitely have various sort of, um, uh, f-factions within the party that not all of which are particularly ambitious on, on green and climate policy, such as the Social Democrats, to go in a much more green direction.

So in this election, there was a, a, a green majority, you could say, of, of parties that wanted more ambitious climate action, and shortly after, a new, uh, climate act was passed that set quite unprecedented emissions reductions targets, some of the most ambitious in the world, certainly at, at the time.

And at the same time, you had a key role of certain expert communities as well.

Because in Denmark, there's a long tradition of political consensus decision-making.

So having-- You know, so essentially for the last hundred years, you've had a sort of a, a pendulum switchback between what was called the red block and the blue block, and it would be a sort of center-left government and a center-right government, that it would be, you know, multi-- a multi-party system with coalitions.

You'd have the Social Democrats with various sort of either parties to the left of them or, or slightly to the right of them.
