Snatcher

Now, apparently this inspired Hideo Kojima to make certain games.

He noticed it as inspiration for Snatcher.

Apparently it was a painful process to make this game because he had to do everything, all arts, music, writing, all involved.

A bit of a crucible for him.

It's not.

I have, um, I've no reason to have it outside of my just fandom for, for Kojima, but I've got, um, this Snatcher, like, pilot disc.

It was like a, a, a demo of, um, like, Snatcher, but it was for like-

I f- I, I feel like it was, like, 10, maybe 20 bucks off eBay, you know, 10, 15 years ago.

And I was like, "You know what? Why not? I might as well get this." And so I have got that.

And I've got a Jap, uh, an import copy of Snatcher as well on, um, the, uh, Saturn.

Well, they also, I think it's in the briefing that they use the word biomort as well when they're talking.

Those are like visual novels to him.

And that's also in some of his previous games, Policenauts and Snatcher.

They lean heavily on those.

And the Metal Gear MSX games also have those Kodak calls.

Again, Kojima is working on something else.

He's doing some of his visual novel stuff.

He's doing Snatcher at this point in time.

And someone from the other office is like, hey, did you know that we're doing a Metal Gear sequel for Nintendo? And that's where he gets the idea to do his own Metal Gear sequel and writes a whole treatment on the train ride home.

Compared to, like, Snatcher, like, MGS1, like, I don't know about that, man.

Absolutely.

So, uh, this one I'm pretty...

Me and Dave saw, and we were very conflicted about it, uh, for several reasons, mostly because of the ironic nature of this.

So Saturn...

Snatcher gets a fan translation on Saturn using an artificial intelligence.

So, uh, basically, uh, of September, they used this, uh, u- it was known as PIPA, released an English translation of Saturn for PlayStation 1 labeled version 0.5. And after various iterations and testing over the months, um, finally released a version 1.0 Snatcher.

That's probably my favorite one.

But also, there was a game that came out a long time ago in Sega CD called Snatcher.

I used to like it a lot.

It's one of Kojima's first games.

PS1, I think it came out on.

I liked it a lot.

Snatcher was really good.
