Where have you gone to around the world that really surprised you, that opened your eyes to a musical experience you hadn't really quite connected with before?
3:05
the first place that I've been to was Angola that had a very diverse sound system there and it was just where I wanted to first take my music and like take something out of, like that kizomba, that tsuku music.
3:25
And yeah, man, just the elements of it, the elements of Angolan music and Portuguese actually was, yeah, it was mind-blowing to me because of the elements and the real elements of African instruments that they use there.
3:40
You're a boy from Sochas? Sure.
3:42
Which block? Block L.
3:44
Block L.
3:44
Sure, London.
5:46
Just talk me
3:28
At what age, whether as a child or teenager, did you think, okay, I want to be in this world of music? And how did that journey progress? How did you join the team of Black Motion? Let's unpack your journey.
3:43
Oh, like I've always, always, always, always been interested in music because of my parents, because of my mom and my dad.
3:54
And my dad was a vinyl collector.
3:57
My mom was in a choir.
3:58
So that played out a whole lot of a difference in me saying I know music and understanding music and I love music.
4:07
So yeah.
4:08
fortunately for me it was all that in one so my parents loved music i love music and i was willing to learn from my dad and my mom what the music is all about and yeah from a very young age i i was very interested in music especially drums percussions from watching these old um music programs that would play on Sundays because they would play mostly traditional music and choral music.
7:18
First of all, what has surprised you about being a professional in the industry? And secondly, what challenge have you overcome?
48:14
Yes
48:15
... like how do I put it? Like, uh, uh, it's saying that we acknowledge that, like you are up for a Grammy and the entry number is there.
48:22
So yeah, it's, it's kinda like a consideration nomination [speaking African language] so.
48:33
Remember I told you about the album when it came out?
48:35
Yeah, sure, sure.
48:37
You and Sol, bro, I remember it was the first, first, first thing you guys tweeted about, and yeah, I did give it a lot of traction, my king.
