Sandhill region is just top-notch answer from anybody.

Yeah, it was a fun time and such a beautiful spot, such a beautiful spot.

That was my first time being on the Niobrara River, seeing Smith Falls, you know?

But when I was first elected, and then in 2013, thanks to the work, actually, of the Peterborough MP, Dean Del Mastro, and Jim Flaherty, the late finance minister who was in Whitby, there was a proposal to let VIA do a dedicated route to Ottawa to get off the lakeshore lines, pick up what was called the Shining Waters Rail link to Peterborough, and then take right-of-ways and lines that basically go back to, I think, the Grand Trunk, for goodness sake.

And then there needed to be some work in Smith Falls.

But that would have been dedicated to VIA, would have potentially dropped that trip by almost an hour, like 50 minutes or something like that.

VIA was very hot on it.

First experience

at Smith Falls.

I mean, that is like, holy crap.

is heck yeah um it is amazing it was just it once again that's not nebraska you know i mean it's not the nebraska you know yeah it's it's uh all over the place uh i learned that there's three different ecosystems that meet at the niobrara they converge they converge you got some Three different species, three different regions of trees in one area, which is almost unheard of.

It's a beautiful place, and I'm glad you finally got there because now when we talk about it, we feel like you can participate in our conversations about the Niobrara and the Smith Falls and the beauty of it all.

So I went up with the wife and our friend Dominic, good wisdom boy, Dominic Berta, drove with us up there, and we took 92, and then we— kind of took the middle route, right? Like, we didn't go to Columbus.

My first radio job as a sports director at Sea Jet Radio and Q101 in Smith Falls.

I actually watched Todd White play his tier two junior hockey with the Kanata Valley Lasers when they take on the Smith Falls Bears of that old barn in Smith Falls.

So, yeah, I've been watching Todd White play hockey for a long time and, of course, became a radio colleague after that.

Suffered the same Bell Media fate that I did.

I remember him playing in Cumberland in minor hockey and offensive offense, offense with the 67s, and then basically kind of turned himself into more of a defensive guy, more of a semi-reliable guy to play.
