Chapter nineteen Slum Novelists and the Slums.

Odd ideas are entertained in our time about the real nature of the doctrine of human fraternity.

Tenements were very run down.

It was called the slums in sociological studies.

There's a whole book by University of Chicago sociologists called The Gold Coast and the Slums, and they were referring to Little Sicily.

And the hope was to sort of destroy the tenements, kick these people out, you know, and rebuild this beautiful new neighborhood.

And so those people were dispersed as well.
