Slayer

I mean, my friends, you know, you want to talk about darkness, dude.

My friends discovered Slayer and their lives went completely off the rail.

Yeah, for sure.

They discovered Slayer.

They were like stars on the football team.

Judas Priest.

They discovered Slayer, and then they stopped playing sports.

They started smoking pot and listening to it.

There's pushups, there's curls, some presses, squats, some jump rope.

And it's a tough workout and it's set to Iron Maiden and Black Sabbath and Judas Priest and Slayer.

It's badass.

And the Cro-Mags and Madball and a little Biohazard in there and Sick of It All and Deep Purple and Motorhead and...

So I had kind of a little bit of a, what do you call it, like imposter syndrome at first, where I was like, well, I don't know if my guitar playing is really up to snuff.

I was always really hard on myself and really pushing myself to get better and really trying really develop like I struggle with left hand dexterity like playing guitar solos and stuff I can't really do but I've really developed my right hand dexterity like my picking hand is you know it's a throwback because I grew up listening to a lot of bands like Slayer and Iron Maiden and and you know not necessarily so much punk rock i mean i did listen to punk rock i did listen to the strong out and all those sort of stuff but my formative years i was more into like new york hardcore and bands like agnostic front and chrome eggs and you know crumb suckers and and and you know later on i got into like terror and unearth and these kind of heavier bands right So I always had the dexterity.

I'm like, okay, well, I'm doing something in punk rock that a lot of people aren't really doing right now.

So I'm going to lean into that because I think it's making us sound a little bit unique.

I saw Metallica and Slayer's first show ever.

In fact, I just saw Slayer the other day at Rock, Oklahoma.

Like to me, it's about the unique sound, especially today, because I find there's so many metal bands and so many sub genres and micro genres that some of those sub genres, those bands sound exactly the same because they're using a formula.

Metal was never a formula.

Anthrax, Megadeth, Metallica, and Slayer did not sound like the same bands.

And then back in the day, there used to be a Tattoo of the Earth, which was like an OzFest, but it was a tattoo convention.

And then two stages, like Slayer, Slipknot, and all that stuff going.

And tattoo.

Like, it's the perfect combo.

Some music, some blood.

Play some Slayer.

Rain and blood.

You
