Skylar Meade

But the reason these are linked and, and the reason that I think, like, it ...

You could tie it to what Kendall just was sa- talking about w- with Jordan Bishel at Cincinnati is I think these programs are going to be in this range or higher as long as they have their head coaches, right? Skylar Meade and Dan Fitzgerald.

But I just think that those two guys and Bishel are all gonna be really desirable targets for, you know, SEC or, you know, uh, whatever elite programs come open that have more resources.

And so it's a matter of, like, can those schools lock down those guys? Um, because those guys are ...

So, uh, we will certainly continue to have that on the site at govols247.com.

But in the meantime, I've gotta get you to Skylar Meade, Troy's baseball coach who is entering his sixth season at Troy.

Like I said earlier, he was very gracious with his time, gave me 30 minutes of his time, and he was awesome.

He, he gained a fan in me, if I'm being totally honest.

Uh, so I, I hope y'all enjoy listening as much as I enjoyed talking to him.

So without further ado, here is Troy baseball coach Skylar Meade We're now joined by Troy head coach, Skyler Mead, on the Diamond Vols podcast.

Coach, how are you?

I'm fantastic.

And then I went to Future Games sophomore year.

And then that's when Coach Mead gave me a call.

I got a lot of attention there, but Coach Mead was one of my first calls.

And I had no clue where Troy was or what Troy even like where it was or anything.

And, you know, he called me and was like, yeah, check us out, do your research.

Uh, Peyton, I think you were going to dive in some Omaha questions.

I was going to ask one quick one for you here.

Uh, just 'cause we've interviewed Coach Mead, uh, just kind of the personality.

So, you know, you have a, there's a great respect for Southern Miss.

There's certainly a great respect between, uh, Coach Mead and the Southern Miss program, and Coach Ostrander and everything.

But, um, there's also a great memory.

Not y- not a great memory in the sense of good, but a great memory in the sense of big, that Troy surely feels like they got some retribution for what happened that late night in Montgomery when, uh, Dre Barrett did a heroic thing and, and almost knocked Troy out of the postseason.
