For 20 or so years, hotels and airlines have fought the loyalty war against each other and against OTAs.

Turns out they were watching the wrong competitor, according to Skiff's research.

Latest report here in their Global Travel Insights survey, which asked travelers which loyalty programs they find most rewarding.

And credit cards and banks topped the list of any other loyalty program at 32%.

No.

So this is something, you know, in between a collection of maybe 20 to 30 properties, enough to negotiate meaningful distribution and procurement terms, but small enough to get the details right.

He had this great quote in this article in Skiff where he said, Marriott can buy the coffee cheaper than I can, but I could charge three bucks more for it than maybe they can, right? So this idea that there's still some negotiating power, some distribution power baked in here, But again, the ability to control a more lifestyle luxury sort of experience.

Are we as lodging providers doing a good job of telling them what experiences are out there and then selling that to them, merchandising that to them? How do we get our share of the pie, if you will, to kind of help in that profit struggle that you mentioned a few minutes ago as well?

I'm right there with Seth and Skiff to think that this is a huge opportunity.

And when you put numbers attached to it, especially in the trillions, clearly there's a big opportunity there.

However, I think that this is also similar to our standards discussion that we've had over the last few episodes.
