Skies of Arcadia

Yeah.

A lot of people say that they went on to make Skies of Arcadia.

I see why they say that, but the more I look into it, and I was a believer of this for a long time, that Team Andromeda went on to help with that.

But you look into the credits and I don't see almost any crossover.

But when you're playing this and then you go play Skies of Arcadia, there's... undeniable similarities

hell yeah that's that's pretty high up on my list again as i i'm making an effort to um i'm i'm still playing and replaying final fantasy games for podcast episodes but i am going to branch out and start playing more stuff outside of square because that's a real uh blind spot for me uh for someone who loves rpgs as much as i do so um let's take our first music break and then when we come back we'll set up the story uh talk about that world building and much more Thank you.

In that conversation, Dan, we didn't talk about digital games at all, which is fine.

Someone named Stuart here says, was Skies of Arcadia from Sega Dreamcast, a very old game, was that by chance an inspiration or were any other digital games an inspiration for this at all?

You know, I'm not familiar with that game.

I haven't played too many video games, even kind of growing up.

So he looks like a horrible flesh monster.

not quite that bad but yeah give me weird ai vibes but what game would benefit from a similar kind of remake my criteria for this is it's got to have its own design and style it's got to be in 3d and it's got to kind of be unobtainable but still worth playing and the first game that came to mind and we should not remake dreamcast games for dreamcast games are perfect we all know this But Skies of Arcadia, I actually think would benefit from a similar type of Unreal 5 injection.

Because you can have a lot of fun with that.

It's got a very unique sort of Saturday morning cartoon kind of aesthetic to it.

If it dropped on Steam, I'd buy it immediately and drop everything else that I'm playing to probably play that.

So yeah, I'd like to see that make a comeback.

Not enough people have played Skies of Arcadia.

We don't count the GameCube re-release because Dreamcast for the win.

So you can tell this is only gonna bring in Sonic Adventure 2 as well as some of your obvious, uh, Sonic-y, uh, ones right there.

Though I also ended up, uh, mentioning games like Jet Set Radio, Shenmue, PSO, Fa- uh, Skies of Arcadia, quite a bunch of other different things right there, and it's, uh, pretty easy enough for me to turn, end up going towards a big variety of titles right there.

And, um, and of course, uh, there was some artwork that, uh, David167 ended up sharing, of course referencing some other games that have indeed, that will indeed get some air time on the, uh, Space Channel 5.

Je- uh, did I say Jet Set Radio? Um, I mean, obviously I cannot bring in Dead or Alive or Bomberman or Spider-Man or of, uh, or any of that ilk for obvious reasons, uh, third party gatherings.

In fact, like, [laughs] I had one request ending up being put in, a bit of a shorter one from Electric Boogaloo.

Managed to fit that in very easily, very tiny and small.

And of course, I do need to bring in some kind of Skies of Arcadia in there to end up capping this as well.
