But the show or the movie itself is... all of the puppets and the character designs are very original very unlike anything really else um and there are these evil creatures called the skeksis that are these like giant kind of decrepit looking bird they almost look like decaying bird type people kind of things um And there are just certain dynamics to that movie that, as a kid, like, I loved the movie, and I thought it was really cool, and I loved...

Visually, it was stunning, but there was moments in it that made me very uneasy.

There's this one character that is one of the Skeksis, and he's kind of...

He's the Chamberlain, and he's kind of always... scheming and trying to figure out how he can get the throne well at the very beginning of the movie he gets cast out he challenges to become the new emperor and he loses the battle and then in turn they push him up against this wall and he's screaming and screaming and they're all of them surround him and they're ripping his his robes off of him and when they back away he's just left there this creepy bird thing with this bloated gut, and he's all just basically naked and in the corner and completely ashamed and disheveled.

At one point, they're supposed to...

The prophecy says that they're going to destroy the Skeksis and return balance of power and all this stuff.

It had looked like, um, I don't know if you remember the Dark Crystal.

There's these things called Skeksis, I think they're called.

And they were like the bad guys.

But look them up.

Dark Crystal.

Oh, the Skeksis.

Oh, yeah.

They scared the shit out of me when I was a kid.

Yeah, that was scared the shit out of me.

Yeah.

The Skeksis were like big puppets.

And then, oh, what was the other one from that era? Legend.

Oh, my God.

Yeah, the big creature that was like the Skeksis from Dark Crystal.

It was

like Terror something.

Yeah, I don't remember.

But he had a life-size one that they had from a play, and he had some screen-used Skeksis swords.

He had some Jim Henson's storyboard notes.

He had... a Leonardo head and and hand from the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles three.

And of course, because I keep doing this to myself, I'm like, I want to do something different with this one.

Now, the thing about the Neifs is that they're inspired by the design of the Skeksis from the Dark Crystals.

Shout out to the previous Segway.

And the thing about the, if you know the design of the Skeksis, they're all kind of based on slightly bird-like designs or lizard-like designs.

And a lot of them, they're based on vultures.

and vultures have like the real hunched shoulders kind of look.

Yep.

The Skeksie thing.

Oh, yeah.

Yeah.

That's what I want every shadow to actually sound

like.

The Dark Crystal Skeksie.

A sound that reaches right into your brain.

Harpies, of course, are bird people.

The Nagpa were in Creature Catalog, and they're also bird people, but they're basically the Skeksis from the Dark Crystal.

Pegators were also from the Creature Catalog.

They're centaurs, but if the horse part was a pegasus.
