Singapore national football team

For Kian Sasi Kuma, it's the next step in a big dream.

For his fairly famous father, former Lion R. Sasi Kuma, it's a gamble that began with uprooting the family for Spain.

Now father and son face the next chapter, one chasing his own legacy, the other watching a dream take flight.

Gentlemen, a huge welcome to the show.

We really don't know.

But obviously we want to get to the top.

I want them to be playing in the Champions League, come back and help the Lions in whichever competition they do.

I think that's always the plan.

Please don't go.

Is that the call for the Singapore Lions? Should they go to Saudi Arabia for the Asian Cup? Welcome to The Final Score with me, Neil Humphreys and Ziaul Roshan.

I have a question for all of our listeners this morning.

So many of you joining us.

Here's the question.

Is the Saudi situation too dangerous for the Singapore Lions to go there in January for the Asian Cup? Legendary Liverpool manager Bill Shankly famously said, some people think that football is a matter of life and death.

I can assure you it is much more serious than that.

Of course, he was being ironic.

89.3. It's time for Sports Minutes with me, Ziaul Raushan.

About a week since the Lions were mauled by Malaysia, the winds continue to sting.

Not so long ago, we celebrated our Lions, their bravery and bravado after positive results in August at the AFF Championship.

yet in an industry where things flip very, very quickly and in an era where the inquest begins not just on publications and podcasts, but on social media.

The time to pick up the pieces and continue to hopefully push for progress needs to happen just as quickly.

And when we address the fans, the listeners who are tuning in as well as the many fans that the Singapore national team have, right? Those two fixtures, we've already addressed World Cup opposition.

I can hear what you're saying in terms of gaining that experience.

But what should fans look out for if not the scoreline? What should they look out for in terms of what the Lions put up?

Are you a Liverpool Man U fan, Sultan? If we are second, yes, we deserve it.

Well, I spoke to three former Lions about this issue last night to get the players' perspective.

And I asked them one simple question.

As a player, if you were on a team... that lost to a cheating opponent.

Do you want that medal now? Former Lions goalkeeper Lionel Lewis said, nope, it's fine.

Former Lions striker Alexander Duritz said, personally, I will not take that medal.

Second means second, and that must be respected.

Former Lions centre-back Daniel Bennett said the complete opposite.

The move is part of a series of senior leadership changes announced by the central bank yesterday.

And the Republic's inaugural FIFA ASEAN Cup campaign ended in disappointment after the Lions suffered a heavy 6-0 defeat to Malaysia in Bandung yesterday.

This is also Singapore's worst loss to its Causeway rival at senior level since a 6-0 defeat in 1978, coming just three months before the Asian Cup.

In companies and markets, oil prices surged more than US$4 a barrel yesterday amid the WSJ report that the US was sending more troops and aircraft carriers to the Middle East.

Welcome to The Final Score.

And yes, it's all over for the Singapore Lions.

But is it over for Cristiano Ronaldo, too? I have two questions for our wonderful listeners today, and Audrey Seak.

Question number one: Where do the Singapore Lions go from here? Big question.

Should they bring in more foreign talent, more naturalized players, more heritage players? What do you think? Do Singapore Lions need to bring in more foreign talent? And number two: Should Ronaldo save his dignity and his pride and just retire? Retire now.

Wow.

Let's do the Singapore Lions first.

Audrey Seak, nobody saw this coming.

So how are the boys doing after one loss and one win in their opening two matches? What's the mood like in the camp and how is the prep coming along for the battle in Bandung? Well, the man with the answers is a man who is made for the big occasions.

His name is Safwan Baharuddin and he joins me from the Lions Den.

Safwan, welcome to the show.

How are you doing?

As long as he's not stopping, I won't stop.

And I won't say this because I'm a guy that is very quiet in my work.

And we always have this self-motivation to try and succeed certain things in football, especially for the NFL team.

People can say so many things about him.
