Chasing down obscure bugs in somebody else's framework is not joyful to me.

So in addition to trying to make really tiny games and make single player games and not worry about a whole networking stack and not worry about server side stuff and all this kind of stuff, also know figure out how to get away from so many dependencies um in fact trying to get away from all dependencies because basically dependencies over my career now that i've been making games for like 20 something years um yeah i guess 22 years i've been making games uh dependencies uh come to bite me every single time like i never had one that didn't eventually come to bite me And the current one that's biting me right now is that most of my games, going back through my catalog, were written around SDL 1.2. Now, well, I mean, it's just, that's what there was back when I started making games, right? It wasn't like, oh, you're using this old thing.

It's like, that's what SDL was.

Now, everybody has moved on to SDL 2, and then I guess Linux is still kind of keeping SDL 1.2 around, like Debian still has it.

So my games still run there.

And I guess there's still DLLs available for Windows, but I don't even know that I can get my games compiling for a Mac anymore because the DLL that's available for Mac, it's not really called a DLL on Mac, whatever it's called.
