SimCity 2000

I have loved it.

I have great games like Marathon and SimCity 2000 and all the typical business tools.

For my mother's birthday, the family chipped in and bought her a PowerBook 145, and she loves it too.

It just works.

Highlights include Madden 97, Williams Arcade's Greatest Hits, NHL 97, and then a couple of technical powerhouses.

Ultimate Mortal Kombat 3, SimCity 2000, and Street Fighter Alpha 2.

Yeah, those are impressive releases on that platform.

Yeah, I mean, like, Ultimate Mortal Kombat had a lot going on, but, like, and SimCity 2000 was a really impressive down port of a pretty high-end PC game at that point.

But Alpha 2 on Super Nintendo, that's still one of those things I look at and be like, damn, Capcom working their freaking wizardry, making that game function and function well on a Super Nintendo.

Yeah.

There's no real upside to that.

Oh, I guess I think in like SimCity 2000, sometimes I would use like the cheat code to give yourself a bit more money.

Yeah.

Like unlock a hidden loan.

It turns all of New York City into a massive, interactive pixel art map.

that looks like old school game of Sim City 2000.

The guy behind it came up with the idea of looking out a window over Manhattan from an office balcony.

and wanted to capture that.

That's a lot of steps to go through in order to get TIE Fighter to work.

And SimCity 2000.

Yep.

And Triple Play 99.

Yeah.

I mean, but I just because when I saw it on the map and I saw Avenir just the south, we've talked about before and I was just like, my God, I'm like, I feel like we're watching Sim City 2000 in real time, you know, like building because they're like building a whole city there essentially.

Right.

And we're going to have the airport someday.

Yeah.

I also remember my aunt was a town planner and she watched me playing SimCity 2000 once and was just fascinated.

It was like, oh, look at this.

You can really model.

There you go.

Open SC2K, an open source remake of SimCity 2000 for Windows, Mac and Linux has finally been released.

I want to play this.

I've not I've not sat down with it.

I

literally just tested it as we are waiting for you to join the call.

and uh and it's really neat it looks like a modern game uh oh man except for you know it's simcity 2000 in the background right yeah but like the ui and the ux is all like brand new looks like something modern and it looks and feels great um I was telling Guy before we recorded that I still have my disc of SimCity 2000, my CD-ROM, and it's in the other room and I was too lazy to get it, so I pirated a copy just so that I could install it.

And yeah, it works great.
