Bitesize - Marcel Ardans on Billy Strings' Guitar Style
M
8:21MattHOST
yeah totally and you know we'll come on to talk about other players and and tony rice a bit but it's definitely a tony rice sort of influence runs through so much of bluegrass guitar now and to hear like then not just the sort of the licks but also billy does a lot of cross picking as well and then and right and He talks about that, actually, and I've heard him talk about it on stage, but he loves the traditional nature of what Jared Walker brings on mandolin because he uses a lot of double stops, a lot of tremolo, also consciously doesn't play super clean.
M
8:56MattHOST
He's not like a Sierra Hull.
M
8:57MattHOST
And I think that is an element of that in Billy's band, a sort of a real rootsy feel, however they take it and however far off that they might go.
M
9:06MattHOST
There's an element of really wanting to ground it in that.

About worried half to death Till death do us part In sickness and in health My patience is thin I ain't got much left You left me here to sit and stew While you went out at night You were out doing wrong While I was doing right I've thrown up the papers All I need is you to sign Oh, hold me down, hold me back or you won't hold me at all.
