Council then reviewed a number of petitions and communications, which are essentially requests for City staff to investigate certain matters and return to Council with findings, updates, or recommendations.

The first item was about Mountain Road and 15th Side Road.

City staff reported that improving pedestrian and cycling access on Mountain Road and 15th Side Road is best achieved in the short term through wider paved shoulders at an estimated cost of $650,000.

A dedicated multi-use trail on Mountain Road, estimated at $3 million, is not being recommended.

The report also referenced the long-term Mosquito Creek Trail Network, which could eventually provide an off-road connection for pedestrians and cyclists.
