And honestly, it just put me off sex forever, I think.

Yes, we are looking at the adaptation of Jhumpa Lahiri's Pulitzer Prize-winning caliber storytelling, specifically her short story collection, "Unaccustomed Earth," premiering this fall.

It stars Freida Pinto as Parul Chowdhury and Siddharth as her long-lost love, alongside Saryu Blue, Indraneil Sengupta, Parveen Kaur, and Adi Roy.

Adapting a short story collection into a cohesive episodic television series is one of the most difficult structural challenges a showrunner can undertake.

Because short stories are basically just glimpses, right? They're singular moments in time, whereas television requires a relentless week-over-week narrative engine.

And the way they've built it out here is fascinating.

The series focuses on Parul uprooting her tight-knit Indian American family, relocating them from India to Cambridge, Massachusetts, following a life-changing cancer diagnosis.

But amidst this health crisis and this massive cultural relocation, she reunites with Siddharth, his character, and it sparks a deeply passionate, scandalous affair.

I look at this adaptation, and the only way I can describe it is as a literary Trojan horse.
