Do you know what? It began because I was challenged by somebody else's testimony.

So, um, my friend Charis, who also lived in Harper Hey, um, she couldn't afford the rent on the two beds, uh, terrace that her and her friend Sarah were, uh, renting.

Uh, and then, uh, the roof literally collapsed.

It was winter.

Yeah.

Mm.

But I've been volunteering since 2004, and what, what we've found was there is, like, some institutionalized people Coming out the care system, the armed forces, prison, um, [tsks] and shelters, sadly.

In 2004, when it first started, that was most of who was on the street, whereas now we find there's about 3, 400% on top of just your average Joes, people who just can't quite make ends meet anymore.

It's to do with financial circumstances.

Um, and to be fair, it's always been the case that about 60% of homeless people is just to do with relationship breakdown.

So that doesn't necessarily have anything to do with substance misuse.

It's just that they're, they're either rough sleeping or sofa surfing or in a shelter.

Yeah.

was it that drove you to do this project?

For me, absolutely my faith in Jesus.

I was training to be a graphic designer and I'd got quite far through that training and I was looking forward to it, to be fair.

And then I was in church one day and...

God showed me three pictures.

It was like watching TV.

You know, you can't deny that this thing happened.
