Civilization VII

Oh, okay.

So, you know, I don't have a, a proper gaming PC or anything like that, but it can run Civ VII without completely melting.

It's not super happy-

Um, but again, I, I get that it's tracking a few decisions in the background.

But I would argue if my laptop can run Civ VII, which is tracking arguably a lot more in the background-

Mm.

As always, whether you're a hardcore raider or a casual player, GoFest is set to bring trainers together for two unforgettable days of fun.

On the strategy front, Firaxis has announced a future-defining update for Civilization VII, addressing players' concerns over the missing modern endgame, scheduled for 2027.

The free update will reintroduce modern tech trees and late-game international crises, while paving the path for the first major expansion, Earthrise.

Earthrise will shift civilization's focus to space exploration, promising planetary colonization and interstellar diplomacy systems.

Switch 2 is getting Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Arcade Wrath of the Mutants and My Hero Academia All's Justice, both on Switch 2.

This weekend on Steam, there's a free weekend for Civilization 7.

I am hoping a lot of people try it.

I would like to hear renewed thoughts on that game, a game I'm not going to have time to play this fall, but would like to check back in on in 2027.

Well, the most probably 3MA relevant thing I've played this summer is I put about 30 more hours into, uh, Civilization VII with the Test of Time update.

Um, and I actually did a, a fairly substantial review update ... on, uh, on IGN.

Exactly.

Well, that's the thing is, like, I don't know...

I still don't know why I would choose Civ VII over any of the three games you just mentioned.

Um, by the way, Humankind II was just announced at-

Well, in between those two, I did support a gigantic studio because you came in when I settled on the game that I wanted to play to scratch the itch of like sim building stuff.

And I was playing Civilization VII.

I waited a year or two to play Civ VII.

It still has mixed reviews, both recent and overall on Steam.

I thought it was fine.

I finally, after months of complaining, finally decided to just let myself enjoy Civilization VII.

And now I'm just fully into that.

And wh- what makes it interesting to me is Endless Legend plays like Civ, where there aren't usually limited resources.

I guess Civ VI and Civ VII did this pretty well, where you can travel the map and encounter like villages, like the tiki huts-

... or, um, you, you can encounter wonders or something, and they give you-

Yeah, this is interesting concept.

I haven't thought, I haven't thought about it before.

Now, there was another game I wanted to talk about, which I think we'll save for a bigger episode for everything else, but what I thought would be interesting to talk about is, I don't know how much Civ VI you played, but Civ VII puts a bigger emphasis on the idea of an economy, and that is something I've really enjoyed from playing Civ VII.

In Civ VI there are diplomacy points.

yeah Civilization Civ 7 which was oh my god that was Civ 7 it was it was crackers that one was so nuts like the audition for that as well to see this is another thing where it's like okay just try and care less and just pretend it's all going to be fine but the casting came through for it and it wanted like a like a natural west country accent and I was just like Well, you know, my granddad was, like, from Cornwall and my dad's from, like, Somerset or whatever.

And I thought, that's OK.

Can I give, like, a natural West Country accent? So I just did kind of a voice that was kind of their voice and shot my shot.
