Shut Up and Dance

Um, he also did one of my favorite episodes of Black Mirror.

It was Shut Up and Dance.

Remember that one?

Which, which one was Shut Up and Dance?

That was the one where the kid downloads like the virus on his computer, and remember-

Oh, and it was like y- you guys-

And I do think it has to be Charlie Brooker writing.

And I would urge you to go back and watch Shut Up and Dance because we rewatched that.

And like, obviously, when you know the big twist, you think, well, I don't want to go back and rewatch it because I know what's going to happen.

But actually rewatching after so many years, Shut Up and Dance and seeing the seeds of of what is planted throughout.

It was a really good watch.

Oh, it's so good.

Yeah, he is.

And it's called Shut Up and Dance, which is the third episode of the third series.

I think it's the Peter Friar one.

It's one of the, like, super difficult...

It's a big reason why I don't like Black Mirror, which is a very popular show which is very well done.

I've seen several episodes of, of Black Mirror, namely, uh, Shut Up and Dance is a really well done episode of television, but it's just so bleak.

And I just kinda wanted a little bit happiness at the end.

Yeah.

Gets goofy.

Another interesting episode that plays into that, that you think about it later on, is Shut Up and Dance.

And exposure is kind of our big factor here.

This episode is another one of those that feel kind of gross because there's barely any futuristic technology involved you have Kenny and he secretly gets recorded through his computer and you know I guess my iPad right here does have like the camera exposed but like all my like devices I cover my camera up like not that I'm interested or anything you know interested enough for anybody I want to fucking record me but I don't know I might be picking my nose and somebody fucking use that for content.

If you're lonely, technology can give you something that feels like companionship.

If you're cruel, it can give you an audience.

And the way social media and all that shit works now... like outrage and cruelty is the thing everybody's into it that's what they reward you for so that's you know where this this goes with that um another um theme that we we look into is privacy and really the lack thereof you know this this is something that comes up constantly the entire history of you shut up and dance archangel another episode i didn't even mention uh crocodile Like everybody wants more information.

People want to know, where are you? What did you do? Like, who are you talking to? Like, what were you thinking? And, you know, every time we get that access, you know, to the information, you know, we give up, you know, a little, you know, a piece of privacy to get that info.
