Now, we were talking about record companies earlier, and a record company played a very pivotal part in your time with Ozzy when they came in and went, we don't have enough songs.

Who's got songs? Which led to you submitting Shot in the Dark.

So that last minute, we don't have enough songs, you probably had a few in your back pocket.

What made you go, this is the one with Shot in the Dark?

I played them three songs.

I played them for Child of the Dark, another song called Sting of Justice, and another song which, funnily enough, ended up being the... framework for a last in line song on our last album.

The two songs I played were a guitar song.

um and we started cutting tracks at the townhouse um once the backing tracks had been cut then it was a question of ozzy doing his vocals i think he recorded them in paris for some reason uh yeah i think he recorded them in paris and then he came back and and uh it's finishing touches a mix you know it was just a it was a pro it was a process that's all

yeah obviously hit hit single shot in the dark um one of your songs um i i recall hearing about you know that was kind of one of the last ones to go on the record um how did that song kind of happen because obviously that was written in some kind of variation prior to you even being in the band um how how like did it feel like a hit at the time when you were writing that

no no i have no idea what a hit is i think if you look on my uh my i've got about 400 odd titles published and uh i wouldn't know which is a hit from which is not a hit i think many times you go into an album and you think this is the song.

Oh my gosh, that's the song.

I mean, I had no idea.

You know, we just thought, okay, well, this is cool.

And then one day they said, oh, we're going to cut a video for Shot in the Dark.

And I said, oh, what's up with that? Well, that's going to be the first single.

The shit rocks.

I didn't listen to Shot in the Dark because that would have been in my head all fucking day.

None of that.
