Shooting Times

I felt that we came at things with different backgrounds, different perspectives, but also just delved into interviews issues and conversations that are affecting farmers and the rural community at the minute both in and out of the sector so yeah really good conversation and it was quite a long conversation so I'm not going to keep this intro going on too long I think we should just jump into it Well, I think we should start right at the beginning of your career.

And a huge highlight is obviously going to be becoming editor of Shooting Times in your early 20s.

that was a long time ago.

So the Scottish Field, The Field, on various topics, but fishing and shooting predominantly.

And the editor of The Field called me up one day and he said, what are you doing at the moment? And I said, well, I'm doing a master's.

And he said, well, would you be interested in applying to edit Shooting Times? And I think it was kind of the stars aligned because I was very interested in the various subjects.

I also didn't want them to pay me a huge amount of money because it was a first job.
