Yeah, absolutely.

I've always wanted a Shogun Warrior just because I kept seeing him on all the toy shows and everything like that.

I'm like, yeah, eventually I would like to get one of those.

You just always hesitate to buy them.

Yeah, the tagline I put together for this was before Mighty Morphin Power Rangers, before Voltron, before GoBots, before even Transformers, there was Shogun Warriors.

Arguably one

I had some Star Wars, but...

Unlike Noel, I, as a little kid, as much as my parents tried to get me into Hot Wheels, like my older brother, did not care for them at all.

But there was something as a young kid that I was very much into, and that was Shogun Warriors.

I, growing up, this was like in the early days of TBS.

So I had Shogun Warriors giving me giant robots.

I had Space Giants giving me giant robots.

I had a love for Ultraman and Godzilla movies.

That was just a big gimmick in the 80s.

But yeah, it's kind of interesting to see here because like I say, the Shogun Warriors is there as well.

And I had the first like three or four issues of that that I got in a back issue bin back in the day.

It's worth a little bit more now.

And now, you know, so like, and I'm like, we might as well talk about this now because it's going to be the thing that comes up, I think all the time, right? It's, is that Jim Shooter, a really, really, really good comic book writer, I had a mission, which was they're making toys of these characters, and they're making these play sets, and I need to put them all in the book.

In a very real way, this book reminds me of something like ROM or Micronauts or Shogun Warriors or something like that.

And Sean's going to hold up his copy of Shogun Warriors soon.

No, Sean's going to hold up his three or four vintage Shogun Warriors now.

But, you know, it's interesting because we were talking right before we started recording that I've been reading this Tomorrow's book, The Crisis Companion, which is sort of the making of Crisis.

And, you know, Crisis did come out about a year after, not a complete year after, but

It was a little bit the

generation before it, so Micronauts, ROM and Shogun Warriors as well, which were toys and comics but not animated shows.

How do you think they're

going to work with Micronauts? Because obviously that's a slightly different generation.

You're getting into, like, if you want to dig into, like, the Japanese origins of them, yeah.

But, you know, it's a bit on my knowledge.

Stuff that went before, I mean, I mentioned Shogun Warriors and also you had Dynamo Joe and all this sort of thing at the same time.

This is interesting because it's... creating an environment and you know this whole theory about comics creates a family so you get into it in the same way that a lot of tv like buffy or next gen you can describe that family environment and that's what transformers does you've got like the kind of father figure and you've

Nobody is beating down the door to get 1981 Hasbro or 1981 Mattel.

But 1980, 1979, Mattel, you get Shogun Warriors.

82, you get into Masters of the Universe.

Before we started the show, you had mentioned 1988.

absolutely absolutely the second thing is that Toy manufacturing has radically changed, and you really see it in the catalogs.

Shogun Warriors is a good example.

They tweaked their figures over the course of five years, but they were still coming out.

I need, you know, Jonesy brought me back some cool little things.

Just need a Shogun Warrior.

No, what I need is a Hedera because I love that guy.

I don't have any Hedera toys.

But the, look, the Shogun Warriors Godzilla is once again, it would be the museum piece.

You know, it's a legendary toy.

Would I feel cool that it's always here? Yes.

But remember I had the Shogun Warriors Boba Fett and loved it when I had it and everything, got it.
