Shock Corridor

There is the Amicus Anthology Asylum.

There's Samuel Fuller's Shock Corridor, which is a tremendous melodrama.

And there's, of course, most famously, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest.

And in that film...

And in this particular case, The whole setup kind of reminds me of Fritz Lang's film, his last American film, in fact, Beyond a Reasonable Doubt, where Dana Andrews is put inside of a similar sort of facility in order to kind of, you know, do an expose on the flaws inherent within capital punishment.

And in Sam Fuller's film, Shock Corridor, where a journalist, again, a journalist goes into undercover mode in an insane asylum in order to kind of expose and hopefully correct the inhumane practices being enacted within.

Of course, in these stories, traditionally and typically, and of course it's not any different in this context, usually the guy on the outside ends up either being sidelined or removed, i.e. killed, which creates all kinds of difficulties for the person on the inside.

So that's definitely an aspect of the plot that Franco is going to recycle for this movie as well.

So we watched Shock Corridor and The Naked Kiss.

Those movies kind of go together.

I hadn't seen the Blu-rays that I've had for years, but I had seen those movies on DVD years ago.

He was also the production designer for Jean Renoir on most of his famous movies, including The Rules of the Game and Grand Illusion.

And he was the art director on Charlie Chaplin's Limelight, Samuel Fuller's Shock Corridor, Clint Eastwood's Bronco Billy, and Abel Gantz's Napoleon, folks.

And that's just, again, tip of the iceberg for his filmography.
