So in concept, it's pretty easy to do same-day delivery if you've got a lot of stores, either through your own, like Target's got Shipt or Walmart using its own delivery, as well as other services, Instacart, et cetera.

Yeah.

So the capability of same day is really kind of split.

And then they said, well, we got these shipping distribution centers that are 50 miles from the customer.

What if every store became a distribution center? And we could buy a company like Shipt and ship things same day within five miles of the store.

That's going to be more efficient.

I'm using that inventory in the store.

And also what's interesting is they're offering this underlying technology to grocers as cart assistant for their own sites and apps.

And of course, they're not alone because Shipt launched AskShipt, which you can turn prompts like planning a tailgate or feeding a family and a budget directly into a ready to buy cart system.

So, Shopify's data actually, it's worth mentioning, provides evidence that this behavior is commercial value.

AI-referred shoppers convert nearly 50% better than organic search visitors.

Target now allows shoppers to search using a photo, while its AI Review Insights feature organizes customer feedback around commonly mentioned product attributes.

Instacart and Shipt are going further.

Their AI assistants can build grocery carts from a conversation, recipe, or uploaded photo.

That means product discovery is no longer driven only by the words typed into a search bar.

TechCrunch has reached out to the Trump administration for comment.

Well, looks like Shipt became the latest delivery app with an AI shopping assistant.

You see, Shipt, the same day delivery platform owned by Target, is the latest delivery app to join the AI cart race.

The company announced on Wednesday that its new Ask Shipt tool will help customers shop more intuitively and turn prompts into customized ready-to-buy carts.

Now, with this launch, Shipt joins a growing list of delivery platforms baking AI assistants into their apps.

Just this morning, Instacart launched a new AI-powered grocery shopping assistant called Clementine, while Uber Eats and DoorDash have also introduced similar AI assistants this year.

Users can ask the assistant to do things like create a cart for my Saturday tailgate for 25 people daily.

and include some brunch items, or build a cart for easy school lunches and after-school snacks, Shipt says.

Correct.

There's actually a shipping company called Shipt.

That's how they spell their name.
