County.So after this reporter, Cardwell, had gone public with the Murray reports, he received a multitude of tips about Dorsey's corruption.

One informant provided pictures that showed county inmates painting and landscaping houses in the political district of Sherry Dorsey, Sidney Dorsey's wife, who was an elected Atlanta City Council member.

Cardwell and his cameraman once again captured footage of the allegation to provide proof of the wrongdoing.

Cardwell aired the story and informed the public that the inmates received little oversight while out in the community, and some of them had felony charges pending.

The DA has very little contact with the sheriff in your urban counties because they don't do the police work.

Mr. Dorsey's wife, Sherry Dorsey, was an elected city of Atlanta council member.

They were a power couple in DeKalb County.

And so when these accusations started coming out, I just said, "Eh, this is all just political noise." But one of the most astounding...

And Mr. Dorsey was overwhelmingly defeated in the runoff.

Then three days before the sheriff-elect, Derwin Brown, was to take office, on that cold, rainy night that I described, he had been to a victory party.

His wife left early 'cause she had his, uh, special uniform made for Derwin for that-

And Lester, you may remember, Dorsey's wife was an elected member of the Atlanta City Council.

And one of the things that Cardwell uncovered, shockingly, was that the sheriff was having inmates taken from the jail, many of them facing murder charges, and would drop them off in Sherry Dorsey's district to do yard work and paint houses.

He was using deputies that were on the payroll, but he was putting them in his private security firm, guarding banks.
