Sherrard

Atwood School District for a long time until like, I think freshman year.

And then ended up moving in with my mom and my grandparents outside of Sherrard and went to Sherrard.

Then dropped out and joined the Army.

Signed my contract when I was 17.

In obituary time, here's Joanne Carstens, Cookie Carstens, 94, passed away October 18th.

Memorials may be sent to the Quad City Animal Welfare Center in Milan, Illinois.

Linda Jean Wilhite, age 80, a resident of Grays Lake and formerly of Sherrard, Illinois, passed away October 9th at Sunrise of Gurney.

She was born September 24th, 1946, in Lincoln, Illinois, to Earl and Betty Emmons.

Linda earned her teaching degree at Iowa State and spent much of her career teaching English and Spanish for the Sherrard and Rockridge high school districts.

She also owned and operated her own preschool out of the barn at her farm in Sherrard, aptly named the Kitty Barn.

Linda served on the Sherard School Board for many years and was the lead volunteer for the American Field Service program at Sherard High School.

She enjoyed gardening, crafting, antiquing, and researching family ancestry.

And Newman beat Mendota 42-8.

Mercer County forfeit win last night over Sherrard in varsity action.

Uh, Riverdale and Erie Prophetstown both will be in the, uh, north bracket in 2A.

Both look like they'll get opening round byes.

If the current system stays in place, which I agree is a big question mark probably, right? But I hope this is the last year that- Uh, two of our local teams, this'll be the last year for the outside looking in.

Hopefully they'll be in it.

I'm talking about Murco, and I'm talking about, uh, Sherrard.

And I know, you know, the Murco fan base, they're, uh, upset that we're not gonna be playing in the playoffs.

If the Golden Eagles would have won, it would have been win number two.

Win number three would have come next week against Sherrard in a forfeit.

Instead, Mercer County will close the regular season at 2-7.

And as we stand right now, looking unlikely to have enough playoff points with their current positioning to qualify for the postseason with a 2-7 record.

One is – how bizarre this week is going to be for them, not knowing that you have officially been eliminated from playoff contention.

You don't know yet.

And then, you know, having basically the bye week, taking the forfeit win over Sherrard, what do you do? I mean, that's another playing the JV game.

I know.
