Seven weeks later, the American music channel VH1 premiered a show called I Love the 80s, where comedians and minor celebrities took it in turns to reminisce about the decade's toys, haircuts and television, one year at a time.

It was a format VH1 had borrowed from the BBC, who'd been doing it since 2001, and according to one of the channel's former executives, It was the first show in VH1's history to get a rating above 1, which, in American cable terms, is roughly the equivalent of the Beatles playing Shea Stadium.

Somewhere between those two things, the entertainment industry worked out that you didn't have to invent anything new, original, or even good to make a fortune.

You just had to sell people back a version of their own childhoods with all the recessions, racism, and threats of nuclear annihilation taken out.

So it sounds like they're kind of getting ready for that.

And then it says, visitors can explore iconic locations, including the Cavern, Abbey Road, Shea Stadium, St. John's Beacon will host a yellow submarine, 360-degree viewing experience.

Well, this is like the Beatles Disneyland.

Yeah, it sounds like it.

And they proved that also during the National League playoff series against the Atlanta Braves.

Right now, some 57,000 fans are pouring into Shea Stadium.

Most of them, naturally, are Mets fans.

They are expecting a New York win, and if the Mets win, that would give them the World Series, four victories to one.

At Shea Stadium in New York, it's 5-1 for the Mets over St. Louis in the top of the seventh.

At Atlanta Stadium, San Francisco, with runs in the fourth, fifth, and sixth innings, lead Atlanta 3-0, now playing in the bottom half of the sixth.

The Dodgers are leading Cincinnati 4-0, playing in the bottom half of the fourth inning.

After their win in Game 7 of last year's World Series, the New York Mets celebrated their championship in traditional fashion, with hugs all around and enough champagne for everyone.

Woo! Some felt the celebration went a bit too far when it went public, leaving the locker room for the pitching mound at Shea Stadium.

The break in tradition occurred when champagne continued to flow on the playing field.

Last Sunday's New York Times revealed that Commissioner Peter Uberoth is concerned about the prominence of alcoholic beverages in baseball's post-game celebration.
