Uh, Shawn Marion, The Matrix, I still don't understand how he got that shot off so quickly because he started right at his belt buckle.

But I always thought that he should have been even better.

The f- now I'm just going off of a guy that's probably much different skill set, but a guy in the past that had problems shooting coming into the league, kind of figured it out maybe on that same path.

But this guy had similar production increase when it came to like points per game, Shawn Marion.

Mm.

Now, Marion took a gigantic leap in that fourth season.

But one of my favorite sets out of horns was the old Mike D'Antoni set of elbow get.

And they used to run this action where they would enter to Shawn Marion, for example, and then Amar'e Stoudemire, who was at the other elbow, would come and set a ball screen, and they'd run two-man game.

And that's a very difficult action to match up against when it's your power forward and your center running pick and roll.

The Lakers know that very well when they used to run Lamar Odom and Pau Gasol pick and rolls.

First, guys I'm see that are missing, no Shaq, no Kobe, no Tim Duncan.

Then you go to, like, the next level of legends, no KG, Billups, Ray Allen, Paul Pierce, Kidd, Allen Iverson, Vince Carter, Jermaine O'Neal, Shawn Marion, Ben or Rasheed Wallace, Rip Hamilton.

None of those guys are there.

The, here are the key guys that they said were injured coming into this, this setup for USA Basketball where they wanted guys committing for three years.

It was Kobe number one with a bullet, and he'd be there in '08 when the redeemed team was there.

Chauncey Billups, Michael Redd, and Shawn Marion.

You know, Billups for veteranism, uh, you know, the perfect time when he went and helped the Pistons win a championship essentially.

When...

Well, that doesn't work if Shawn Marion isn't finishing in transition.

That doesn't work if Steve Nash isn't...

That doesn't work if Steve Nash is turning the basketball over when it comes off the glass and Shawn Marion gets it to him, or when Raja Bell is playing defense.

Like this, none of this stuff works without Steve Nash, and without the rest of...

And then Brandon Roy goes on an all-time run.

He leads the Blazers to a tied game, 82-82, and then hits a pull-up jumper on a really good defender, Shawn Marion, to give them a two-point lead with about 39 seconds to go.

It was also kind of a wild ending too, 'cause he took a bad three as the shot clock was expiring, missing it, and then he contested the Jason Terry three that would've given Dallas the win.

But I just think it's a really cool moment.

He's gotta get off this idea that he's a ball in hand creator.

And, you know, Kerr tried to talk him into being a Shawn Marion type of player, you know, an, an Aaron Gordon, uh, type of player.

The Shawn Marion thing's funny 'cause Steve Kerr traded him for a washed-up Shaq when he was the Suns GM.
