Shaucha

They're not happy at all.

So this Saucha principle is really the reflection to consider the whole ecology of our life, basically.

And just to be clear, because religion gets this confused, even yoga traditions get this confused, mainly that some of the modern teachers get this confused.

Purity doesn't mean perfection.

Delete watching TV.

Channels that disturb your peace, delete following people who disturb your peace.

To have that mental Saucha means we need to begin to notice those repetitive negative thoughts we tell ourselves about ourselves or about the world.

We need an external place that's also clean.

In fact, for the past few months, for example, every month I name the meeting one of the Yama and Niyamas.

So this month it is Saucha, which means it's the sixth month that we've been practicing the Yamaniyamas.

And those are the first two limbs of Raja Yoga, right? So it's not just about practicing the physical form of yoga.

Of course, I teach asana, pranayama and meditation every month.

But when I talk about Saucha, which means cleanliness, during my practice or if there are some articles or something on Instagram, maybe a reel or a thought that comes to my mind, I do share it on the group for them to understand that I don't want you to practice yoga on the mat just for those three days together.

I want you to apply cleanliness.

Satya, saucha, tapa, and daya.

Satya means honesty, integrity.

Saucha means cleanliness, transparency, hygiene.

Tapa means endurance, resilience, austerity.

And daya means compassion, mercy, nonviolence.

Yeah.

One of, one of the commandments of, uh, of yoga, I was writing about it in a recent, uh, letter, um, is, uh, saucha, um, Sanskrit meaning cleanliness, purity.

And I was, I was, I was saying that in the context of also referencing miracle principle number six from A Course in Miracles, which says, "Everyone has, everyone has the right to miracles, to perform miracles." That's not an exact quote.

Uh, uh, yeah, everyone has the right to miracles, but purification is necessary first.

And your ministry is to, to give miracles, which are expressions of love.

That ministry begins when your thoughts are purified.

However, in the, the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali, saucha, cleanliness, purity, is the one, uh, commandment where he divide, he distinguishes it into two, divides it down into two sub-commandments.

One having to do with physical purity, and the other to do with mental purity.

Right
