The whole

My guest today is Rabbi Sharon Brous, the founder and senior rabbi of IKAR, a Jewish community in Los Angeles, and one of the most prominent and influential voices in American Jewish life.

She's also the author of The Amen Effect, a book about the power of human connection, especially in times of grief and loneliness.

Rabbi Brous, thank you so much for joining me.

It's an honor.

Thank you, Tamara.

If you could jump a hundred years into the future in one sentence only, what would you hope to see for the Jewish people? I hope we found a way to heal our hearts, our souls, our family, and the world.

And from a sentence to a word, last question, what's one Jewish word—it can be in Hebrew, English, Yiddish, whatever—that feels particularly meaningful to you right now? I want us to reclaim shalom as the very heart of our sacred tradition.

Rabbi Brous, thank you so much for this conversation.

That journey turned out to be a real-world education and the kind of conversation he hosts now for a living.

Across more than 400 episodes, he, he has included Rabbi Sharon Brous, uh, Bishop Mariann Edgar Budde, if you guys remember, she had an address to President Trump when he was inaugurated, um, Lisa Sharon Harper, one of my favorites, David Brooks, Anne Applebaum, uh, Rep Ritchie Torres, and Russell Moore.

He lives in a purple district in California with his wife Lisa and their dogs Bailey, Abigail, and Charles Mingus III.

[chuckles] I love the detailed names.
