H- what is your messaging about the softball game tonight to the lads, and what do you expect?

Hey, it's gonna be a hell of a time tonight.

That's what I know, all right? It's gonna be a great bonding experience, Pacers coming together, Colts coming together.

It's gonna be awesome.

And who do you think will do well that we won't expect to do well? Like, how do we think, um, how do we think Daniel Jones is gonna be as a softball player? How do we think the lads are gonna handle it?

I think, I think Daniel Jones is gonna be solid.

I think he's gonna be able to hit it well.

I think he's gonna be able to throw it real good.

How would you evaluate it?

Up and down, you know, did some good things at times, but I think overall as an offense, the whole game, just third down, I think we were 1-11, just weren't staying on the field, we weren't converting.

We've got to be a lot better in a lot of situations.

Between both of them, how much do you weigh supporting Cass and then just having him execute with you? Yeah, I think you look at all that.

I think that's all that comes into play when you're evaluating the tape.

But like I said, I think there was some good, but a lot that we need to improve on.

Did you see Littleson from McGowan out there? Yeah, he ran hard physical.

Spencer Schrader, now perfect through preseason, how much closer are you to making a decision about your kicker?

How does that process go when you are challenging a play, and do you see yourself maybe giving that, you know, uh, duty to someone else throughout the season?

Yeah, I think that's a great question.

Obviously I saw this come up, uh, yesterday, and kinda put some thought into it a little bit.

And, uh, you know, obviously the guy that's up in the box, you know, looking for the challenges, whether it's a catch, no catch, whatever it may be, you know, getting it from him.

You know, obviously the head coach is probably the one that's gotta say, "Yeah, I'm d- throwing it," so I think the communication piece has gotta be on point.

So I think it is quicker for the head coach to throw the flag down, 'cause if not, you know, you got a guy up in the box and he's talking, "Hey, where, where you wanna throw it?" And then you gotta communicate to the guy on the sidelines to throw it, and every second counts in this league.

So maybe they get the flag out late, and that's two seconds 'cause you had to okay it, and now you didn't get the challenge off in time.

As a coach, what's your favorite part about these, I guess, period, these joint practices? The red zone? One-on-ones? Inside run? Uh, seven-on-seven? Two-minute? What is it for you?

You got a good Jonathan Taylor story for me, Coach? Gosh.

Day-T story.

Yeah, I don't know.

He's a hard worker, I'll tell you that.

I mean, I probably don't got any funny stories for you.

That's all good.

But I will say, just from a player standpoint, really like looking back at last year, that game in Berlin, that Atlanta game, I mean, he single-handedly took that game over.

Look, uh, starting with Daniel Jones, uh, what is the plan for him, and I guess just what do you wanna get out of these practices leading up to the season with him specifically?

Yeah, I think with- the plan with him is he's gonna be ready to go day one.

Um, and he's gonna get the team reps, and get the first team reps, and go from there.

You know, he put in so much work this off-season to get to where he's at.

Um, and he's been tirelessly working.

He's been doing it all through the summer to be ready to go.

I know he's excited.

Can you just kind of explain the, like almost like the mind meld that you two have? Of just like the, the, the ability to see the game through the same set of eyes, and what that does to benefit you as a play caller and then him as a quarterback.
