So like even you see Pat Horgan with Cork.
N
54:55Naoise JordanGUEST
Well into his years and still to see the skill and the depth of him.
N
55:00Naoise JordanGUEST
You know, but I know, I mean, as we said there before, Conor McGregor, Shane O'Donnell, all them fellas, all fairly skilful.
N
55:11Naoise JordanGUEST
I think Hurdle maybe has got a bit more skilful.
'I have a big nose so saying I’m not able to pick it really is an insult'

And, uh, I suppose Wolfgangs were chasing the game rather than, uh, competing on level terms, which they had done so from, in the opening, um, in the opening 35 minutes.
J
40:18Joe CahillGUEST
And I suppose Shane O'Donnell again, like, you know, he was-

Mm.
J

He was, when he was out the field, he was effective because he was winning puck outs.
J
42:56Joe CahillGUEST
Like, Colin Pearls came on there as well.
J
42:57Joe CahillGUEST
I, I very impressed with him too, like.
J
42:59Joe CahillGUEST
And, uh, uh, you have, you know, when you have Mark O'Cleary, you know, Shane O'Donnell, and Danny Russell, Eoghan Carroll, Robert Loftus again, Luke O'Cleary, uh, you know, showed very well.
J
43:08Joe CahillGUEST
But, you know, credit to Wolfgangs.

so it's obviously going to be hard and that idea of the identity thing of being a footballer like i was always conscious of not just being a footballer hence like studying and doing extracurricular and academia and everything else would have been a big part of filming the excess time but i didn't grow up dreaming of writing research papers or running a business or working a nine-to-five you grew up of winning All-Irelands and playing in Croke Park and winning club championships so kicking the ball against the wall and those are the things that got you going when you were young so that dream has come to an end in some ways so you're still trying to fill the void

I was speaking with Jim McGuinness just posted that episode during the week and I was asking her about a line that you've kind of reminded me of there Donald O'Cusack said when he retired to Shane O'Donnell he was like when you retire you lose that daydreaming piece that when you're caught yourself in the day to day of life you can just dream about what you're going to do in the pitch and he was struggling to fulfil that void even years after retirement and that's kind of I think what you're maybe getting at there
C
10:23Conor MeylerGUEST
Yeah, like...
C

The thing with football for me as well was I could park everything else that was going on in my life and then pull on my boots and then know that you don't have your phone on your hand, you're not at the laptop, whatever happened at work that day, you know, you call out to your girlfriend or something that happens at home.

Um, so we'll just have to wait and see that one as well.

And just a, a li- a news line that came out of it afterwards, and maybe we were guilty of overlooking it a small bit because we knew Shane O'Donnell is heading off on his travels, uh, next year.
D
35:18Derek LynchHOST
But he did say to TG Cahir when he was speaking to him after the game that he, he was playing the last couple of games of his career, that he, he thinks he won't even be back with Earog, uh, once this season comes to an end.
D
35:28Derek LynchHOST
Now, maybe that was a given when he was going off traveling.

Finished with three two, so he was well entitled to it.

Um, Shane O'Donnell just led, uh, brilliantly throughout.

He was a creator in chief.
D

Got on the scoreboard himself with a, a, I thought, a brilliantly defiant point.

here he comes here live on stream Swart Hayes drills it and he drills and there was a show of approval from him and the rest of his players as they went over the bar two pints for Krishin O'Connell's meal set to get off the board Keely Nugent which is puck out down into space where it is picked up there by Dermot Mullins Mullins in a very good centre back out to Raz Hayes Hayes gets the ball into the middle there that's robbed by Jacob Loughnan gives it to Carmach Murphy the meals could do with a score Murphy gives that ball into Fionn Hickey Fionn a very very busy midfielder takes the tackle of Cian Dillon and Dillon and then one of the most underrated players ever to play in the Clare jersey out to Conor O'Donnell Conor O'Donnell with that flick out to Jamie Fitzgibbon Jamie of course his first cousin's playing for O'Callaghan's Mills and the Cooney brothers gets the ball into the middle to O'Shane O'Donnell here comes O'Shane O'Donnell a shot from O'Shane O'Donnell three pints for Crushing and it's Luke Kettler who's going in now with full forward that's a marvellous tap for Crushing Pat

Kevin would you go along with that
K
9:50Kevin SheehanGUEST
Yeah but very very narrowly I think this is one of the tighter ones to call and I'll just touch on something from I suppose in backing up the Scarif is they seem to have a lot of momentum and when momentum is with them they're a very very good team like that game against Airoag I think Airoag showed all their experience to not quite get out of jail but they needed big moments at the end from Shane O'Donnell to get them over the line.
K
10:17Kevin SheehanGUEST
And, you know, that second half against Crushing where, you know, that game was, I suppose, still somewhere in the melting pot.
K
10:24Kevin SheehanGUEST
You know, they grabbed the momentum there and really drove for home.
"It was wildly aggressive & even blood was drawn but hugely entertaining'
D
52:12Derek DormerPANELIST
And I'm sure they'll be running an autopsy or whatever you want to call it on it below in the market to figure out because it was a golden opportunity to, you know, to progress, to develop, to test yourself in a county semi-final against a former Munster champion, at the minimum, you know, so, they'll be very disappointed, and for Kilmaley, it's job done, like it's bonus territory now, and that, people mightn't like me saying that, and look at, they're going to go out and play Heineken-Lamona, whatever way they approach it, and they'll have a crack at semi-finals, so, it's an opportunity for them, but it's bonus territory.
D
52:50Derek DormerPANELIST
Defensively, I think they'll be okay, but I just don't see how or where they'll score enough to trouble the other teams, and I think that's, from you know even the game I was at Clearcastle 9 to Kilnemona and you know Clearcastle they were actually impressive I was impressed with a lot of their stuff just same as all the other clubs outside no scoring threat from clay and that's what clubs are probably looking that's what they have to go back and try and focus on and plenty of shooting drills and plenty of creating scoring opportunities from clay and I think that's the emphasis that's the next step for any club really I think most clubs have their structure in order the defence is in order it's just to try and get that you know create those opportunities from clay and then convert and a lot of it's just a lot of it's just good coaching like it is a lot of it's just proper drills I mean, yeah, to get a 20-killing Shane O'Donnell or a Lorna McNamara, that's natural ability.
D
53:51Derek DormerPANELIST
But to coach someone to find a pocket of space and have an attempt at a pint, that's just organised training.
D
53:57Derek DormerPANELIST
So it's something all the clubs have to probably look at.
