Shan State

I'm happy to share about Myanmar context, current context, and especially conflict in the how civilians are suffering a lot in Ungraal, and especially women and children.

The whole country inside the Myanmar, if you were focused Shan State, Northern Shan State and some part of Southern Shan State and the whole Northern Shan State, there were lots of armed conflict every day, since 2000, I think in Northern Siam State before 2021 military coup, since 2016-17.

So in 2021, in 2021, 22, 23 and 24, before PSLA, Palauan State Liberation Front and National Liberation Army, and including Three Brotherhood Alliance, before they signed the ceasefire agreement, There was armed conflict every day, every hour, and also airstrike by the military regime to the civilians and the infrastructure, such as the hospitals and the village health care centers and the township health care center, and such as the educational infrastructure schools and also basic school, middle school, high school, and also even ethnic-led educational schools also.

especially including the villages, to the civilians.

So, yeah, it was wonderful.

And we also went to... places in Shan State, Qing State.

My husband went to more places than I did.

I regret not being able to visit more places in Myanmar.

I'll have to take it back.

Visited him and then a couple other folks in another martial art that came from up in Shan State via Cambodia.

And apparently some Burmese Shan got, got, uh, I wouldn't say kidnapped.

They were slaved or sent to Cambodia, learned some martial arts there, brought it back to Shan State, and they have a bodyguard martial art state, something like Bagua.

You know, the, uh, Chinese martial art, bodyguard martial art.

So it was contact with them.

The pollution originating from these unregulated mining operations in Shan State and Kachin State is reportedly flowing into the Mekong and Kakar River watersheds in neighboring Thailand.

It's compromising agricultural land for communities that are already under severe strain.

The sheer volume of waste is difficult to conceptualize.

Supposed to be 1.4 kilos, but it's 2.1.

So they're in 350 gram blocks of... straight from the Shan States, and you know that's the borders between China and Burma, Myanmar.

And they press it into blocks straight out the factory, like Tate and Lyle Sugar or anything.

It is what it says on the tin, on the label.

The report cites historical evidence to prove this isn't a new tactic.

It references a 2002 document called License to Rape, which detailed 173 specific incidents involving 625 girls and women in Shan State alone.

That report explicitly noted a concerted strategy by the military to use rape as a core component of their anti-insurgency activities.

And this strategy was horrifically evident during the 2016 and 2017 operations against the Rohingya.

It's a fascinating place.

And we're going to look at our ministry in the Shan language, S-H-A-N, spoken primarily by the Shan people in Shan State, which is, it makes sense, doesn't it? It kind of does.

The Shan people in Shan State would speak that language.

And it also goes to Northern Thailand and Yunnan, China.

So it's kind of a bridge language in that area.

An explosion at an armed storage facility resulted in 15 casualties on Wednesday.

The facility is run by the Myanmar National Democratic Alliance Army in northern Shan state.

Two victims were Chinese nationals.
