World War II was a very challenging period, especially after the United States became involved in 1941, while Ireland remained neutral.

The 1950s began the Shamrock, the annual Shamrock ceremony, when a fellow Waterford man and a previous ambassador, John Hearne, who actually wrote the Irish Constitution, uh, he was the first one.

He, he got a bowl of shamrock, and he drove down to the White House, and he handed it over to President Eisenhower at that time in the early 1950s, right? Well, these days, if you try and do that, you'd end up in serious trouble because no, no ambassador these days can just drop into the White House.

You have to have an appointment, and you have to go through all kinds of security.

I mean, there's only so many NFL stadiums that I think are interesting enough to warrant Notre Dame playing there.

This was very much, in my opinion, a neutral site game.

You had former Wisconsin players that were getting celebrated on the Jumbotron.

It really seemed like a neutral site game as opposed to Shamrock series.

Is there any difficulty scheduling Wisconsin or having Wisconsin agree to this? Do you have any insight on why it was less totally pro-Notre Dame and more of a neutral-site feel?

Conachie Shamrocks to play the Fenians next week but I think it's a game that both teams will actually in a way look forward to but just on that game yesterday right good tussle I have to say and John Lox will be delighted to get to the league final they'll be looking to win that now

yeah no exactly and Nick your own team Conachie Shamrocks had a victory over Emerils you know Emerils had four wins from four up to that game obviously maybe a small bit of shadow boxing on but all Conaghy could do was go out and win that game and set themselves up heading into the championship now

I saw the first 20 minutes had to come into the park then because it was covering the match and I watched it last night look the bottom line this game just needs a big word of caution because both teams played with many players left off the stronger players members didn't play but Conaghy were missing quite a number of stronger players as well I suppose from a Conaghy point of view the big bonus was getting game time into Liam Cass and Thomas Rice is still around.

Now he's Australia bound.

and Group B then finished with Emeralds top of the table there with 8 points, their last loss coming against Conaghy Shamrocks there, St Patrick's finishing second, that head-to-head battle with Kilmacow pushed them ahead of Kilmacow, so it was a winner-take-all game, they finished up with 8 points, Kilmacow ended up then with 6 in 3rd place, Conaghy in 4th place with 5 points, Clunine in 5th place with 2 points, and then Galmai bottom of the table with 1 point, so the first round games then, on Saturday at half two, Winegap take on Clunine out in Jenkins Town.
