Shamar Rigby

It's 6-17 left, 1st and 10.

First play, Shamar Rigby, just a drop.

On a comeback route, good throw from Colton Joseph, and you're like, oh, my gosh, this is just not going to work.

Catch the ball.

He's supposed to crack the outside edge rusher.

He doesn't quite get there, so it's instant pressure.

Colton Joseph stands in, takes the hit, plants the back foot, and delivers an 11-yard slant route to Shamar Rigby, who is covered like a blanket.

It's an NFL throw.

The one was, I think, the first throw of the game where they were running kind of a quick out, and he was late and behind.

There was another one where he tried to get it to Shamar Rigby, and Leonard Moore was just all over him.

There was zero chance of a reception there, and Leonard Moore almost one-hand picked it.

Decision-making's got to get better.

On the offense side of the ball that I think maybe fans are less familiar with is Shamar Rigby.

Wide receiver transfer from Oklahoma State.

He was injured in spring practice, so we didn't see him play at all.

Yeah, Notre Dame has some talented wide receivers, so we'll see how the secondary fares today.

But Shamar Rigby had lots of moments in fall camp, and he is someone who I think, along with Eugene Hilton Jr., and Chris Brooks could be a legitimate deep threat for Colton Joseph.

So he's someone I'd watch for sure.

So somebody that we don't really know about but could swing the game either way.

We talked about him a little bit in camp, but I think someone like Shamar Rigby certainly has that potential.

He was coming off of injury that he suffered late in the spring and kind of only began to ramp up over the latter half of camp.

And he's made some exceptional plays, some contested catches.

I trust Eugene Hilton Jr.

I trust Shamar Rigby, Jacob Harris, Grant Sack.

I was naming, obviously, receivers and tight ends for people that might not know those names yet.

But in terms of this matchup, you know, I'm not going to hype and project that hey, it's going to be a 350-yard, four passing touchdowns type of day because the biggest strengths to me of Notre Dame are at corner and at safety.

Uh, I think you'll quite enjoy Mike Golick Jr.'s answer later when, uh, on your behalf, I ask him the same question.

Uh, I'm going to go, unfortunately, uh, Leonard Moore versus Wisconsin's wide receiver number one, whether that is Eugene Hilton, whether it's Shamar Rigby, whether it's Chris Brooks Jr. We've all seen him take reps sort of that wide, wide receiver one spot.

Um, Leonard Moore is the best returning quarterback in the country.

I believe he's the favorite to win the Thorpe Award this year.
