There is a modesty and a humbleness to the furniture.

But I would push people to approach it more with the respect that maybe like shaker furniture might have.

That it's stout, it's simplistic, it's humble.

But it does not mean that it's not refined in its own sense, right? If you look at a lot of current, maybe, I'm not trying to throw any shade on people that are trying to run their business, but if you look at a lot of places that are selling quote-unquote Southwestern furniture right now, there's an interesting hodgepodge of styles that they combine.

There's heavy ornamentation in that.

And while there's decorative motifs in a lot of New Mexican furniture, you could tell that there was some restraint in not having every single square inch of a piece decorated and reserving that for specific areas of the furniture.

And so again, maybe the easiest comparison I can make is to shaker furniture, which I know doesn't have a lot of decorative motifs on it, but I still think that idea of kind of modest simplicity, a sense of refinement, you will also find that period furniture had slimmer proportions and a little bit more delicateness to the pieces than you find from mass-produced Southwest furniture today, which is, I think, overly chunky and thick, which adds, I think, to this idea of unskilled or unrefined.

And so I think that's what I would tell the people.
